Alegra Kastens, LMFT-very good mind

  • Psychotherapist in New York City
  • Focus on the use of cognitive behavioral therapy to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety and eating disorders, with emphasis on exposure and response prevention
  • Writer, feminist, activist, obsessive-compulsive advocate

In addition to my clinical experience as a therapist, I also have a lifetime experience as a human being. My enthusiasm for OCD treatment, education and advocacy comes from my own personal experience of this disease. I directly understand the ruthlessness of obsessive-compulsive disorder and how painful it is to bind a person’s life. I also understand that through a large number of evidence-based treatments and the same large doses of willingness, relief and recovery are real.
