Average blood alcohol content of men by weight

Your blood alcohol concentration (BAC) determines how drunk you are from drinking, and it varies with your gender and weight. BAC is also called blood alcohol content and is used for legal or medical purposes.

Overview

In the United States, a BAC of 0.10 (one-tenth of a hundredth) means that there are 0.10 grams of alcohol per 100 milliliters (mL) of blood. According to the law, the legal limit for driving a motor vehicle is 0.08 for drivers 21 and older, and the BAC for drivers under 21 is 0.0 to 0.02 (depending on the state).

Male blood alcohol

There are significant differences in blood alcohol concentration between men and women, and women’s BAC is often higher than men of the same age and weight. In addition, men can metabolize alcohol faster because their stomach and liver have a highly active enzyme called alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH).

Even so, the time it takes for a person to metabolize an alcoholic beverage is not an hour as some people hope. Depending on your weight, it may take longer.

On average, a standard American beverage will produce a blood alcohol concentration between 0.02 and 0.04. Most light and moderate drinkers will experience subtle effects at this level.

Drink it all

Most people will tell you that having a drink is “no big deal”. Although some men may respond to a little alcohol, others may seem completely unaffected. This does not mean that they have “cleared” the alcohol in their bodies; it just means that their brains are more accustomed to alcohol and will not react so profoundly.

Generally speaking, the average metabolic rate of men (alcohol is completely broken down and no longer in the blood) will be smaller and slower. Therefore, the effects of drinking will vary with the rate at which BAC returns to normal. For example:

  • At 100 pounds, his blood alcohol concentration after drinking a glass is 0.04. Drink more than 1 hour, blood alcohol concentration is 0.02, more than 2 hours, blood alcohol concentration is 0.01. Only after three hours will his blood alcohol concentration reach 0.00.
  • A male weighing 150 pounds has a blood alcohol concentration of 0.03 after drinking a glass. If he drinks for an hour, his blood alcohol concentration will be 0.01, and after two hours, his blood alcohol concentration will be 0.00.
  • At a weight of 200 pounds, a man’s blood alcohol concentration after drinking is 0.02. If he drinks for more than an hour, his blood alcohol concentration will be 0.003, and after two hours, his blood alcohol concentration will be 0.00.

After a drink, it takes about two hours for BAC to return to zero, even for large men.

After two glasses of wine

On average, two cups of standard American beverages will produce a blood alcohol concentration of about 0.04, and most light and moderate drinkers will feel relaxed at this level. Even if you do not feel the effects of drunkenness, your reaction time will be slower and your fine motor skills will be affected, so that driving will be affected.

After drinking two glasses of alcohol, men’s alcohol metabolism will slow down further, which means you have to wait longer to get in the car. For example:

  • A man weighing 100 pounds has a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 after drinking two glasses of alcohol. If he drinks for one hour, his blood alcohol concentration is 0.06, if he drinks for two hours, his blood alcohol concentration is 0.04. After three hours, his blood alcohol concentration will drop to 0.03, four hours later, it will drop to 0.01, and only five hours later will his blood alcohol concentration drop to 0.00.
  • A male weighing 150 pounds has a blood alcohol concentration of 0.05 after drinking two glasses of alcohol. If he drinks for more than an hour, his blood alcohol concentration will be 0.04, and after two hours, his blood alcohol concentration will be 0.02. After three hours, his blood alcohol concentration will drop to 0.003, and after four hours, it will drop to 0.00.
  • A male weighing 200 pounds has a blood alcohol concentration of 0.04 after drinking two glasses of alcohol. If he drinks for more than an hour, his blood alcohol concentration will be 0.004, and after two hours, his blood alcohol concentration will be 0.00.

After drinking two glasses of alcohol, it will take four to six hours for your BAC to return to zero.

After three drinks

The three standard American beverages produce an average blood alcohol concentration of about 0.06. At this time, the negative effects of alcohol began to appear.

The typical man’s judgment is impaired once he drank three glasses of wine, which usually affects people’s ability to make rational decisions, especially in adventurous activities such as driving or sex. Perception, memory, coordination, alertness, and self-control can also be impaired.

After a person has drunk three glasses of standard wine, the equation will further change:

  • At 100 pounds, a male’s BAC is 0.11. If he drinks for more than one hour, his BAC value is 0.10, if he drinks for more than two hours, his BAC value is 0.08. Three hours later, his BAC was still 0.07, and four hours later, his BAC was 0.05. After five hours, it will drop to 0.03, six hours later, it will be 0.02, and six hours later, it will be 0.001. Only after seven hours will his BAC reach 0.00.
  • At 150 pounds, a male’s BAC value is 0.08. If he drinks for more than an hour, his BAC value is 0.06, and two hours later, his BAC value is 0.04. After three hours, his BAC will drop to 0.03, and after four hours, it will drop to 0.01. By five hours, it will drop to 0.00.
  • At 200 pounds, my BAC value is 0.06. If he drinks for more than an hour, his BAC value is 0.004, and two hours later, his BAC value is 0.02. After three hours, his BAC will drop to 0.01, and after four hours, it will drop to 0.00.

When you drink three glasses of alcohol, you may have far exceeded the legal alcohol limit, especially if you weigh no more than 150 pounds.

After six drinks

The effects noticed at the three beverage levels (or a BAC of 0.06) will become more pronounced with each additional cup. Unless drinking for a long time, the BAC value of six glasses of wine is about 0.12.

The speed at which a person reaches this level will vary:

  • At a weight of 100 pounds, a man who drinks three glasses of alcohol in less than one hour or four glasses of alcohol in two hours will have a BAC of 0.12.
  • When a person weighs 150 pounds, one can reach this level by drinking six glasses of alcohol in two to three hours.
  • A person weighing 200 pounds will reach this level if they drink six glasses of alcohol in less than an hour. If these people drink more slowly, it may take eight or nine glasses of wine to reach this level within two or three hours.

When the BAC reaches 0.12, vomiting is not uncommon. It is the body’s first line of defense against alcoholism.

More than six drinks

After drinking six cups, the symptoms of BAC and severe poisoning increased rapidly:

  • After drinking seven to eight glasses, your BAC will reach 0.15 (or the equivalent of half a pint of whiskey). It is difficult for most people to walk in a straight line at this point.
  • After drinking 10 cups, your BAC will reach 0.2. At this stage, most people will lose power and have little memory of what happened. In young people, this level can be fatal.
  • After drinking 15 cups, BAC will reach 0.3. Unconsciousness is almost inevitable.
  • After drinking 20 cups, BAC will reach 0.45, which is a lethal dose for adults. Death is usually the result of cardiac or respiratory arrest.

Very good sentence

Generally speaking, drinking more than three cups will have a negative effect. The more you drink and the faster you drink, these negative effects will increase. Because you feel “cheer up” and courageous, you may not even realize how badly you have been damaged. These effects are particularly pronounced in smaller men.

If you are driving, the evidence is clear and it is safer for you not to drink at all. The study also shows that the severity of life-threatening motor vehicle accidents has increased significantly under a BAC far lower than the current 0.08 limit in the United States.

It is also worth noting that most sexual assaults occur when one or two people drink alcohol. Therefore, drinking more than three glasses of alcohol at a bar, club or party may make you vulnerable to inappropriate and harmful behavior.

If you cannot insist on drinking two glasses, you may need to consider whether you have a drinking problem. Even if you overeating only occasionally, cravings and the inability to control your intake are signs of alcoholism that people often miss.
