At VigorTip Health, we know you need to have confidence in the healthy choices you make and the information to help you make them. When it comes to the products you use day in and day out, especially when it comes to your health, you deserve advice you can trust. We take great care and care with every product we research, rigorously test and ultimately recommend.
Our product recommendation process begins with market research and interviews with medical professionals and industry experts. We then test the product in our industrial city VigorTip test lab and at home. Once we’ve reviewed and thoroughly tested a product, each entry undergoes multiple rounds of fact-checking and review by medical, nutritional, and certified health professionals from VigorTip Health’s Board of Medical Experts. While we do earn affiliate commissions on some products purchased through our content, our recommendations are curated based on performance, test results, and practical experience.
Our testing process
Before we start testing products, our team of writers and editors carefully and exhaustively research the market and discuss what to look for and how to evaluate each product with industry experts, including medical professionals, therapists, and registered dietitians. From there, we work with experts to create detailed test methods that help us rate products based on different attributes such as ease of use, accuracy, overall value, and more. These attributes are rated on a scale of 1 to 5 next to each product and then averaged to calculate the star rating displayed next to the product name. We then propose a range of products for testing, incorporating retailer, price, user reviews and brand authority factors into the process. When selecting blood pressure monitors for testing in our VigorTip testing lab, we have decided to only test devices that have been reviewed and approved by the U.S. Blood Pressure Validated Device List. While we may receive some products for free, we buy the vast majority of products we test.
In addition to objective test results, we also noticed qualitative insights: How does the blood pressure cuff feel on your arm? How easy is it to view previous readings? Is it easy to use? We are solely responsible for compiling performance data to provide easy-to-understand reasons for which you can trust our recommendations. We highlight the strengths and weaknesses of our products so that you can weigh the most important details and make the most informed decision based on your lifestyle and needs.
Please note that all products, including those we review and recommend, may be recalled or recommendations for use may be revised from time to time. Therefore, we urge you to pay attention to any official announcements from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) that may be relevant to your purchase.
We are committed to ensuring that our content reflects the diversity of our audience. We do this by researching brands and products created by BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and other minority groups wherever possible. Click here to read our full commitment to anti-racism.
Our VigorTip testing lab in Brooklyn, NY has over 7,000 square feet and two test kitchens. We test everything from blood pressure monitors to bathroom scales to thermometers side-by-side in The VigorTip testing lab to see how they compare directly to each other. During each test, we get unboxing, ease of use, and reviews from testers through photos, videos, and written content to create the most comprehensive and transparent testing process that lets you see exactly how your product is performing.
At The VigorTip Testing Laboratory, our editors, writers, staff and other testers evaluate products under the guidance of certified medical professionals and experts (we have physicians from VigorTip Health’s Board of Medical Experts on-site to test the accuracy of blood Pressure monitors (compared to those used in medical settings) use a detailed and medically vetted approach. Our tests are also creative. When testing bathroom scales, we don’t just step on and off the scale – we add I picked up a dumbbell and stepped on it with a sliding foot to test things like accuracy and safety.
test at home
We know that all of the products we recommend have real-world applications, which is why it’s so important to test products at home. At the end of the day, some data can only be collected in real life. The at-home testing process allows us to review things like delivery and setup, and monitor how things go over time: Does the best mattress for back pain hold up its firmness? How are our weighted blankets selected after repeated washing and drying?
Just like at The VigorTip Testing Lab, our home testing process involves editors, writers and experts who follow our detailed and medically approved methodology. Each tester fills out a questionnaire, scores each product’s key attributes, and takes photos and videos of the product’s day-to-day working and performance.
