Understanding binge eating and elimination

Binge eating involves eating more food than normal (overeating) and then trying to compensate (clearing) by removing the food consumed by the body. Binge eating involves eating more food in a short period of time than usual and quickly losing control.

Types of binge eating

Excessive exercise

A less well-known form of purification is excessive exercise. Exercise is generally considered a healthy behavior, especially in people who are overweight or obese, so exercise is rarely discouraged until it causes harm. It may take hours to get enough exercise every day to consume the calories from binge drinking, resulting in time being wasted on other activities.

People who do not consume enough nutrients through a balanced diet to support the physical needs of excessive exercise may suffer from malnutrition.The empty calories ingested through binge eating may not be enough to build and repair muscles and bones. If you do not carefully manage your fluid and mineral intake during exercise, you may be at risk of dehydration or hyponatremia.

The use of stimulant drugs (such as methamphetamine and other amphetamines, cocaine, ecstasy, or caffeine) can also promote exercise purification. These drugs can provide a temporary burst of energy, improve physical and mental alertness, and increase the ability to exercise for a long time. Usually, these drugs have a rebound effect, which leads to exhaustion after they disappear.

Are they eating disorders?

Binge eating is not itself an eating disorder, although alone and in combination, they may be symptoms of eating disorders, such as binge eating disorder or bulimia nervosa.

Both binge eating and clearance are compulsive behaviors, which means that people can enter a pattern of repeatedly performing these behaviors, even if they have better judgment. Often, the trigger for binge eating is stress or low self-esteem, rather than an objective assessment of the need to control weight.

Although binge eating may be part of the addiction problem, they are usually not treated by addiction services unless there are coexisting alcohol or drug problems, or it is a specially enlightened clinic for the treatment of concurrent disorders and/or behavioral addictions .
